Diamond castles

CHAPTER 1

Every night I would go to bed thinking of the memories I had with my father. I was only 7 years old then when he left us, he left us without saying goodbye, he left me without giving me a warm hug and sweet kiss on the forehead, he left everything - his dreams, success, love and the apple of his eye.

I always remember him as a  jolly person, he never fails to make us smile. He would always tell me that I'm his only princess and he's my prince, like any father would say to their only daughters. But they are all lies. A prince must never leave his princess all alone in darkness and sadness, he must make her feel safe.

Before he left, I remembered he handed me a typical music box with a diamond castle inside; he told a special place for me far from the city. Down in the deepest and darkest forest, outskirts the tall buildings, car horns, child's whines and boss' rants and demands. There I would find a castle made of diamonds and crystals just for me and I will find him there waiting for me. Again, they are all lies.

I don't hate him. I just can't imagine that he left too soon.

Now, I'm a young lady. I'll be graduating from college in  months. But the pain is still there. The search never ends, even if my mom asks me to stop this craze of searching for the stupid and non-existence diamond castle in the deepest part of a forest. Like hell, there aren't forests in our place! But I still believe that one day, one day I'll be able to end and land in that dreamy diamond castle he promised for me.

"Honey, wake up c'mon!" I heard a voice on my right ear but I want to pretend that I don't hear anything.

"Hmmmmmmm... 5 more minutes I'm always there, please?" keeping my eyes closed and covered my ears with a pillow.

"Stop dreaming dear, you'll never get to that place. It doesn't exist, it will never exist,"

"Aaagh! How could you!? I'm always there, right? He promised me, it was there,"

"Hey young lady, don't talk to me like that! Just accept it, those are just children's fantasy that should be gone soon for good!"

"Ugh! Whatever you say, I'll find it one day. You'll see," and off I go out of my bed down to the breakfast table to eat my all-time favorite breakfast - eggs with french toast and milk.

I sat there for 45 minutes. Day dreaming. Why do I have to wake up this early? I'll be facing my professors again, another day of discussion, activity, home works and projects to be taken. O well, in few months time I'll be free! I'll get out of this, soon. I promise.

The bell rang, she run as fast as she could up to the 5th floor ('coz the elevators already full when she arrived) praying that their professor would come in late on the first day. "Of course, she will. I know her," she said at the back of her mind.

At last, one floor to go and luckily she bumped into one of her former professors who was carrying a handbag and some books on her hand. She didn't notice that it was her professor, she just picked up the book that her professor slipped on the floor and went on her way to the 5th floor.

"Room 5A... Room 5B... Room 5D, there you are!" she said with a relief.

Upon entering the room, she wore a smile on her face. she recognize some of her classmates that used to be her classmates in other classes but most of them were new and unknown faces she never saw before.-PTC
